On Friday 24 March at 20:00 CET we will hold with the Superrr Lab a session on Feminist Tech Futures at the Mozilla Festival 2023 (commonly known as MozFest). MozFest is a unique hybrid: part art, tech and society convening, part maker festival, and the premiere gathering for activists in diverse global movements fighting for a more humane digital world.
More particularly, the format of the session will be a workshop on ”Towards feminist digital futures- an interactive foresight workshop”.
Workshop Description
What kind of futures do we envision for ourselves, our societies, our workplaces? What role will tech play? How can these futures be shaped by justice, care and sustainability?
But how do we get there? For now, the inequalities of our analogue world are transferred and increased online and by digital devices. Technological progress has not found answers to the current multiple crises of our times.
Applying Feminist Tech Policy as an analytical tool may help to develop tech and tech policies that actually help solve our problems instead of aggravating the ones we already have. An intersectional feminist lens questions existing power relations in society and focuses on creating desirable futures in which tech policy is oriented towards establishing equality for all.
In this workshop, we want to introduce feminist tech policy as an analytical tool that informs our imagination for better digital futures. We will then apply foresight methods to collaboratively develop these future scenarios. The participants will work together to find context-based solutions to global issues in order to imagine a more just future for all. This all will be concluded by a call for action and a possibility for Q&A.
Outcome
Discussion on how to act value-based; how to imagine futures not in a reactive way, but proactively and designing feminist digital futures.
