On Wednesday, 14 April 2021, we attended with interest the scientific webinar ”Claiming reasonable and appropriate compensation for victims of sexual violence: practical application, recommendations, good practices bestätigung” organised by the ”Union of Women Associations of Heraklion Prefecture”.

The “Union of Women Associations of Heraklion Prefecture” is a women’s organisation, which is active in dealing with the phenomenon of domestic violence. The “Union of Women Associations of Heraklion Prefecture” is in close cooperation with the Bar Association of Heraklion as well as with all the Bar Associations of Crete. The seminar was addressed to lawyers and judges and is related to the context of awarding state compensation to victims of sexual violence, in the framework of the FAIRCOM project. The seminar was addressed exclusively to professional lawyers and judges of all levels.

We would like to warmly thank for the invitaion and congratulate the organisation for the excellent presentation and the considerable information that was shared with us during the webinar. And we would like to emphasise once again- and agree with the organisers- that violence is NOT a sign of love – whether it happens online or offline.

Statistics show that 1 in 3 women has been a victim of violence! If you have been abused via the Internet or if you have experienced any kind of violence online, break the silence! We are here to inform you about your rights and the entities you can turn to. You are not the only one! You are not alone!
